Types of Poker
In a traditional game of poker, players are dealt five cards facedown and the player with the best hand wins. If you want to learn about poker hands you can visit this resource: Poker Hand Rankings. Almost all poker games use the same hands, but there are three main rule variations that you will come across.
In draw poker, players are able to improve their hands by discarding and replacing cards. Draw poker is very similar to classic poker, but everyone is more likely to get a good hand.
In stud poker, players are dealt a combination of facedown and faceup cards, and everyone has a better idea of what their opponent’s hands are. Calculating the odds becomes even more pertinent in stud poker.
Community Card Poker
In community card poker, players are dealt an incomplete hand and try to make a full hand out of a shared pool of faceup cards. The most famous version of community card poker is Texas hold’em, which is probably the most popular poker game in the world.
